Description

The Super Siege Lantern features five C4 power LEDs, one white and four red with six output modes and a battery level indicator built into the on/off button. An 8800 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery supplies the power for the lantern as well as enabling you to recharge all your electronic devices from the handy USB port. With the outer lantern globe in place, the light will float. Use the lantern with or without the outer globe cover. Remove the outer globe and hang the body upside down by the D ring for large area lighting needs. A small dry storage area is provided in the base of the light for all your 'keep dry' needs. Simply rotate the bottom cover counter clock wise to remove and access the storage compartment. Flashlight Bulb Type: LEDColor: Yellow, Brown

Compact but bright

A nice compact unit that puts out a lot of light. I don't usually bring a lantern unless I am car camping, but this lantern has now been on several canoe camping trips with me. It has held up great being thrown around in canoe packs, and is compact enough and has long enough battery life to be worth bringing along. The battery technology advancements in the last 10 years or so have been amazing. I remember those 12 volt lanterns in the 90's that were the best electric option, and everyone still hated them. Then you had the liquid fuel ones, only takes a little spilled fuel on your other gear to make you never want to use one of those again. The light output and battery life on this unit really are next level.

Rechargeable and Brightness make this invaluable to me.

I walk my dogs before the sun comes up and usually again after dusk. Game changer after my husband purchased this lantern for me. Very sturdy , I’ve dropped it a couple of times with no damage. The light has three levels of white light and one of red. The brightness is more than adequate and I can see without difficulty plus any car passing can see us long before they’re near. Each charge lasts me about a week, I use it on high. Has compartment in bottom that screws on for I D and house key. There’s also an available USB port if needed. Both ports covered with a sturdy cover to keep out rain. Best security gift I have ever had for our walks.

Great light, but amazon sent the wrong one

This lantern is excellent and is everything i expected it would be knowing that its from streamlight. Its solid, heavy, and feels well built. The rubber on the exterior is a grippy rubber that doesnt feel cheap or like it will rub off. It grips surfaces exceptionally well and i would have no qualms leaving it on a table in the wind (the weight is helpful here). All the exterior hooks are handy on the top and bottom giving plenty of hanging options, and i can confirm it is water proof and does float. I threw it in the bathtub turned on to confirm this and it bobbed away with no issues. The compartment on the bottom remained dry as well. I also liked the removable globe if you want wide overhead lighting. I dont use the red led function much but it seems to work fine in all modes. My only gripe is that when using the red leds, the power button glows as bright as the leds themselves, so it would be nice if in future iterations, the power button light would shut off, as this is also annoying with the white led on and unnecessarily drains battery power. The usb function for charging stuff is handy and works fine but of course anything you charge depletes light time, even with such a big battery inside of it. That leads me to my only complaint which is with amazon itself. This post and what i ordered was the 10000 mAh battery size, however amazon must have old stock as i received a lantern with 8800 mAh instead. Im not happy as that makes me lose an hour of light time, but i was excited to have the light and i didnt want to wait to have amazon ship me out the right one and return this one, so i kept it. Im still debating whether to exchange it now that ive had it for about a week or 2, but buyers beware that this can happen

Absolutly you get what you pay for!

Fantastic light. We had an old Kelty LED that someone destroyed and this was to replace that lantern.Charging. The supplied charger powers up the internal battery fairly quickly. This is a good feature as we can charge the lantern off a small generator in about the time it takes to heat the house and be sure the refrigerators and freezer are back to proper temp. In other words, we don't need to run the generator any longer than before. On low, the lantern provides plenty of light for a dinner and some reading is no problem. The only real issue on low is that the flicker rate of the LED (that's how it 'dims', by turning on the LED for short periods many times a second) is such that if you are doing something with a lot of movement, you get a sort of strobe effect than can bother some people. At the higher settings, this does not happen, but the run time is a lot less.On high, this thing is amazing. Our scout troop has a 20x30 canopy that we set up when camping for covering food prep, eating areas, and meeting area. This one light at the peak under a silver tarp provided plenty of light for all activities. The battery lasted for 2 evenings of activity of roughly 4 hours each. When it did go out, I was able to turn it on at low for a while longer which allows us to finish cleaning up, but with much less light.Have not used the red mode much, but the light output is much less. Probably ideal for long duration needs.Love the many hanging options. The main bail is actually the least useful as you need some kind of hook or carabiner to attach it to anything. The built in hook on the top and bottom are much more useful. A short 10" loop of paracord (stored in the bottom compartment) makes hanging the lantern from just about anywhere easy. The shield for the globe is useful when you need light, but don't want to blind people as they walk into a tent. Removing the globe allows a 180 degree hanging option, but even with the globe, the light is defuse enough to provide a good overall light. While it can charge via USB, it really shortens the light's run time. However, this is useful when power goes out and you need a lantern for a couple hours and need to charge a critical item.I store the lantern fully charged. It does not seem to lose much in storage. When I pop it on the charger just before a trip, it only needs about 5 minutes or less to read "full" again. I have no worries about pulling this out for a power outage that it isn't ready to go.The construction is wonderful. Feels substantial, nice rubber bumpers. This is the kind of product you look at the price and go 'ouch' and then you get it and the price just does not matter, it's that good at what it is.

Amazing Product With One Minor Flaw (Just A Caveat, Not A Dealbreaker)Amazing Product With One Mi...

Typical of the other Streamlight products I own, the performance and design of this product is excellent, in this case just short of flawless, but that one flaw I have found prevented me from giving it five stars. It doesn't stop me from keeping it or recommending it highly to others.A comment on the one negative first, then the numerous positives:The on/off button is backlighted when the unit is in use to indicate battery condition - green for good, yellow for low, and flashing red for critically low. On the lantern's lowest output settings in red (to preserve night vision), the green lighted on/off button remains illuminated at full intensity and actually overpowers the red light from the lantern. I can put a piece of duct tape over it, but then the button is sticky and collects dirt when it is removed. Just seems light an uncharacteristically thoughtless design aspect for Streamlight. It would be great if it dimmed commensurate with lantern output or if it came on upon initial activation of the light and then timed out after a few seconds, only to return if battery condition indicated low or critically low condition. The good stuff is well covered in all of the other reviews. With the one exception above, this lantern is everything advertised to be and I am confident that it will be part of my gear for many years to come. While you must send it back to Streamlight for battery replacement should it become necessary, it's good to know that combined with the very tough construction and long-life LED, the light will basically outlast me.
