As others have stated, this socket has excellent build quality and features--recommended without reservation.Here are some personal observations on concerns that were previously expressed:1. "INCANDESCENT ONLY" - yes it does have this stamped on the side, but it works just fine with dimmable LED bulbs (so designated by the manufacturer). This caveat may be a leftover from earlier times when LED's weren't dimmable, and could be damaged with a dimmer.2. Light does not adjust uniformly with LED bulbs: it won't (it's physics). No big deal, still VERY easy to adjust to the desired brightness, all the way down to birthday candle dimness, if that's your thing (just dial up until the bulb lights, then dial down to the desired level).3. LED flickers at low levels: it's subtle, only seen at low levels (candlelight levels), and is not seen in all bulbs. The fluctuation mimics that of a candle flame (can be rather aesthetic, actually).4. Wires will twist when the socket is installed, potentially causing a short: NOT TRUE. The socket has a separate base that is secured to the socket with a threaded lock ring. The base screws onto the threaded lamp extension (that the cord runs through), then the socket is in turn secured to the base with the lock ring. The socket actually has an index tab that prevents it from twisting during installation.FYI--they even color code the hot and neutral connections to help you connect the hot lead to the socket's center contact. (Center connection and screw terminal are brass colored; Edison threads and neutral terminal are silver colored.)5. The control knob fell off: It uses a toothed indexing to join to the potentiometer. The fit is secure but not overly firm--pull on it and it will come off.Hope this helps...

Handsome heavy replacement socket that gives you dimming capability. Easy installation. I especially like that you get a definite click when the lamp is completely off.
