Ended up returning these. I have a lot of Shelly devices in my house. Around 50. This is my first time trying the Shelly wall dimmer. One major feature that is not included with this is a transition time or, ramp up/down of the lights. They are instantly on or off. There is no smooth transition or adjustable time period for that. I assumed it would have that as that is a pretty basic feature. But it does not. Otherwise the switch itself is good quality. Wish Shelly took the same exact features from their normal Shelly dimmer and just packaged it in this switch.

Worked well for my bedroom lights, however I also noted that annoying leds stay on during use at minimum levels, I took it apart and desoldered the LEDs that were annoying, you could desolder them all if you wanted Shelly could an option to disable them completely 🤷

Despite the misleading information on the product page you actually cannot turn off all LEDs on this switch, as of writing this March 2024.You can turn off the LEDs for the square indicator on the bottom end of the dimmer but you CANNOT turn off the LED for the brightness level (little dots running up the center). There are no settings for those. They are very bright. If you have a light sleeper like my wife, do not buy these for a bedroom. They will definitely keep you awake. The company also won't let you post a negative review on their official website... not a good sign.Other than that the switch works great. Doesn't require any hub or hardware. Works perfectly with Google home and home assistant.It would be the perfect switch if you could turn off the LEDs!

I now have 9 of these installed running on my home network and connected to Home Assistant. I do not have them connected to the Shell cloud. No problems connecting to the summer's AP to set the initial configuration. Some people have mentioned problems connecting or constantly reconnecting and I suspect this is due to DHCP. I suggest setting static IP addresses for your Shelly devices (actually all of your home automation components). I have had no network connectivity problems this way.I do agree that the lone brightness indicator that shows the brightness level at turn on is a LASER beacon when trying to sleep. Hopefully this is corrected with a software update in the future. Quality is not a Maybach, but certainly Toyota level and much better than the builder grade toggle switches they replaced.The biggest plus for me is the ability to use multiple Plus Wall Dimmers in n-way switch setups. You can set them for 3-way up to 6-way operation by installing a script available from the Shelly website. Wiring is not trivial, but so far I have done two 3-way and one 4-way setup without problems.

Good light switch, but bad smart light switch. It loses connect to the router and they are in the same room. The dimmer part works great.

Unlike the one reviewer, I don’t think it’s fair to fault Shelly for the lack of inclusion in the Home Assistant Shelly Integration (see update below). Shelly doesn’t provide/code this, the Home Assistant team does. I’m sure once this has been on the market a little longer that will become available. In the meantime there are no issues controlling it with MQTT from home assistant.This dimmer deserves 5 stars because it is built solid and the design looks nice. It doesn’t feel cheap or like it will break easy. It is also UL listed which I haven’t run across in the other wifi switches/dimmers in this range. Important for something that you plan to stick in your wall. The Shelly firmware will allow you to use this with their cloud or you can use it local. Most the other switches lock you to their platforms and servers…bad idea.Unlike many of the other wifi dimmers it also has a ESP32 processor. Why is this important? It allows one to flash their own custom firmware to the device if they so desire. I use Tasmota on other devices but find Shelly’s firmware more than acceptable. But it’s always nice to have a plan B. I popped the back off (torx screws) and verified the ESP32 chip. Construction is nice on the inside and serial pads are large and well labeled.Only real improvement I would like to see Shelly make in the firmware for this is an option for a ramp up and ramp down in dimming. I would love to see Shelly come out with similar smart switches (relay only) in both a standard configuration and 3-way compatible with traveler wires for a dumb switch on the other end for the North American market. Maybe even a fan controller.All in all this dimmer is a welcomed entry into this space when I was beginning to give up on smart home tech.UPDATE ON HOME ASSISTANT INTEGRATION: Developers for Home Assistant have added support for this device to the Shelly HA integration as of the January 2023 build. If it’s not working for you, make sure your home assistant is at least that version or newer. I’ve been using it for a week or two now. MQTT communications also work well. I’ve picked up a second one and it’s been flawless. Hoping to pick up four more in the coming months.
