I purchased this for use with my bedroom ceiling fan / light! I have used Kasa smart plugs with Alexa for 4 years with no issues, and did not want to have to add a new app for a different brand.Installation was easy, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I was careful to use the included labels to identify the existing wires in the box, which greatly facilitated the installation process. Adding the new switch to the Kasa app was painless and straightforward. Alexa synced immediately. I am very pleased with the install and setup process.I also like how the wall switch works, and can be configured.Highly recommend.

We push automation in our home. This was a second attempt to find a switch that would work well. This switch has checked all the boxes. The four speeds work well and easy to control by touch, Alexa app, or Alexa Echo device. We didn’t need the light feature of the switch. The fan motor responds well to lower speeds and doesn’t make an annoying sound as experienced with a different fan control switch. Only downside is the light feature can be set as a favorite in the Alexa app, but not the fan. Not a deal breaker, but would like to ability. Would purchase again.

I love this switch! It is so hard to find a ceiling fan with built in smart controls, and that leaves you with VERY limited options in terms of designs. This simple switch is the perfect solution. I was able to pick the ceiling fan I wanted to match my decor and instantly make it fully smart by adding a simple switch. I use Kasa smart switches in my house already so this integrated well into my home setup. I had no trouble getting it set up and connected to google home.I will admit that the physical switch "buttons" are a bit confusing at first but this is fine for me as I rarely use them - this is in my bedroom and I almost exclusively control this fan and light from my bed - hence the need for a remote option. I can keep the lights dim as I get ready for bed and turn them off when I'm ready to sleep without getting up. When my alarm goes off in the morning, they automatically fade back up to full brightness. There are a lot of options in the settings to make this work with your needs - for example, you can dim or turn off the LEDs on the switch permanently or on at night only on a timer, and you can set the lights to fade in and out when you turn them on at different intervals. This switch really adds so much. I am very satisfied with how this works and would definitely recommend!

I had an electrician install this Kasa fan/dimmer control yesterday, and I couldn't be happier. The quality, function and feel of the switch is very premium. The processes to add the switch to the Kasa and Tapo apps, as well as Alexa, Google Home and Homekit were very simple. The instructions said to use the Kasa app first, but I later learned that Kasa is migrating to the Tapo app. After installing in the Kasa app, the app atomatically updated the firmware, which took about 2 minutes. Once installed in the Kasa app, I logged into the Tapo app with the same User ID, and it found the device right away. I then added the Kasa skill to both Alexa and Google Home, and entered the Apple Homekit number on the device in Apple Home to add the switch to Apple Home, which is the main app I use to control switches.The switch is entirely touch capacitive, and responds easily and without delay. You slide your finger on the bars to adjust brightness and fan speed, or tap the fan and light icons to return brightness and/or fan speed to the last setting when turned off. All functions can also be controlled using any of the apps, or by speaking to Alexa, Google or Siri.The price and quality are excellent. I am very happy with the purchase.

I installed the Kasa Smart Ceiling Fan Control & Dimmer Switch to replace a single wall switch that controlled both the fan and light on a MinkaAire ceiling fan. This fan has no remote and no receiver — it’s wired for wall control only — and the switch works perfectly in that setup.Installation was straightforward, and setup in the Kasa app was quick. Once installed, the switch has been very stable. Fan speeds change smoothly, and light dimming is clean with no flicker or buzzing. The physical buttons are intuitive, so you’re not forced to use the app for daily use. Alexa integration is fast and reliable.Important notes for buyers:This switch will not work with DC-motor fans. It’s designed for traditional AC motor fans only.It also won’t work with remote-only fans unless you remove or bypass the remote receiver and rewire the fan for wall control.A neutral wire is required (clearly stated by Kasa). This is because the switch needs constant power to run the smart electronics and maintain Wi-Fi connectivity — it’s not just a passive switch.If you have a properly wired AC-motor ceiling fan that’s controlled from a wall switch, this is an excellent smart upgrade. The smart switch/controller is pretty darn good. It’s integration with Google Home is super simple as is the Kasa app.I had my cousin install it as he is an electrician and I didn’t wanna mess this one up. The price point is really reasonable.The looks are definitely on the cool side of the wall switch fashionista monthly calendar. The only negative is the actual physical functionality of touching the touchscreen slider for either the light or the fan controls is a little weird. There’s nothing physically wrong with it or anything like that. It just is missing something like a haptic feedback you would get if you were pushing a button, moving a Physical slider, or even interacting with your phone. That is truly the only complaint I have about it and it’s a stretch to even complain.The switch is really nice and really affordable and I have had zero issues with it after a couple months of use.

I bought one of these Kasa Wifi Ceiling Fan switches for our family room cathedral ceiling fan, & liked it so much, we bought another for our screened patio ceiling fan, & & then a couple more for 2 other rooms.The units work really well. I'm a big Leviton fan, but the Leviton WiFi fan controller requires a separate switch in the wall for controlling the light. This Kasa fan switch controls =both= light and fan.The installation was easy. The Kasa packaging & instructions were first rate. They even include a sheet of peel-off stickers for labelling each of your wires BEFORE you start disconnecting the old switch. This is the best product guide & information I've seen. Easy to read. Well written. Crystal clear. And, absolutely correct.The wiring installation took about 20 min, because the Kasa switch is very deep & has to go nearly all the way to the back of your switch box. Pushing all the wires and caps aside to get the switch in was most of the hard work. It's a tight fit.ALWAYS download the Kasa TP-Link App to your phone and register the device =before= you try anything else. You will then have no problems at all with: setting up the fan & configuring it; adding widget mini-screens for the fan control to your cellphone's desktop; & =finally=, going in to Google Home or Alexa, and setting up the fan in the correct room of your home for voice control to take over.The modern touch-screen slides for the fan speed & light intensity are a little different. You get used to them. They look great on your wall! We rarely touch them. The voice control & the Kasa Widgets for your cell phone home screen do all the work for us.Mostly, we use Google Home voice control, or the Kasa 4-speed fan widgets on our cellphone home screen.We had a problem with our patio fan: it has no light. We capped the red wire from the Kasa switch instead of connecting it to the light. I made double-sure the white neutral was firmly & solidly connected. Everything seems to work well, reliably, & normally. No problems at all without the light connection.These Kasa fan control switches are excellent. I am delighted. I will definitely be considering Kasa WiFi switches & adapters for other uses in our home.

At first I was frustrated after the install of the KS240. I installed two in two different rooms not far from each other and NEITHER would connect to my network. My network happens to be a TP-Link Deco X60 mesh system so I was frustrated unlike all other two dozen Kasa plugs switches etc these fan dimmer switches did not work. I called TP link not expecting much but they escalated this issue to their senior engineering staff with Cliff. Cliff got back to me quickly and addressed the issue which he did trouble shooting on. After many tests Aurelia Huang called me back and ran me through steps to create a GUEST NETWORK in my X60 network and suggested my password not contain any special characters. I created the guest network reset the KS240, opened the Kasa app again, selected the guest network and voila! THE KS240 FINALLY paired! I tried the second KS240 AND IT paired with ease as well! Awesome product. I was about to return the four I bought after three days of frustration but already installing 2 I was happy to see them connect and working.
