I am in the process of updating and repairing the family house. One of the first projects is lights. This is replacing a large, old circular fluorescent light fixture. I believe it is a testament to how well this actually looks and functions that even without the ceiling being repaired, the light makes it look nice. The design allows the light to freely flow even with lower light bulbs (the one in the fixture in the pic was a test one- a 60W equivalent with the white plastic outside and globe that restricts half of the light- not as bright as the fluorescent, but still lights things quite well). The halo cast from it is nice, unique, and allows masking of ceiling imperfections without obstructing the light from the fixture. An impressive and simple design.The quality is good, with it feeling quite sturdy. The design is unique and capable of fitting a number of scenarios. I was not quite sold on this fixture, but it seemed to have the best chance of fitting the area best. I'm still not sure about the match, but the wood is beautiful, and I think that once I finish fixing the kitchen, it will fit in quite well. There are some imperfections in the wood finish, but the way that the finish is designed allows these imperfections to blend in quite well.As you can see in the photos, my scenario requires the removal of the chain, but it does include one and it looks nice. It is pictured at the bottom of the box the light came in. There are also a couple of nice additional pieces. A cap in case you lose one for the canopy, as well as an extra opening link for the chain.As far as the installation, overall it is quite easy. The one major thing of note is that the wires of the fixture are inverted. Typically you match the black to the ground and the white to the live, but the instructions, as well as the stickers indicate that you should put the white as the ground (zero or neutral "N") and the black as the live ("fire wire" or "L" wire). Outside of my husband having never wired a light before and having to redo the bolts with redirection, this was the only thing that was confusing about it.We are considering options for how to proceed with the ceiling issues and my husband floated an idea, prompting me to reach out to customer service. While they had limited information to share, they did share it. Their answer was prompt and personable. A nice company to deal with.The only reason I docked a star is because of the wire color inversion. If we had not noticed the stickers (and as a result read the directions) and gone on conventional wiring code specs as we had originally, it would have been wired improperly.

Pretty well made, solid construction, easy to install. Only down side is no shade, so you have to be picky about the bulb used, or you get a fairly harsh light. The lamp itself is wood with steel banding, it's attractive and both rustic and has a somewhat old world flair. Good price too.
