Modern Outdoor Post Light

I replaced older lantern style fixtures on the brick fence posts along my property. A couple were broken and couldn't be replaced, and the prior owners had clearly pulled a few others that broke before I ever moved in, so I needed to redo them all. I bought six of these before I joined the Vine program and got a seventh through Vine. They have been installed for a few weeks now.Light Quality: This was my main concern. My fixtures are a few feet off a roadway and I didn't want to blind anyone and have them go off the road into my house or a neighbor's. The beveled glass lets light through no problem but breaks it up, so I got good usable light without a glare bomb pointed at drivers. That's exactly what I needed.Style and Color: I wanted neutral and modern and I think these do both. They feel a little mid-century modern but will go with almost anything. My brick fence has elaborate, dated iron railings, and these don't clash with that ornate style at all — they actually go very well together. The aluminum color is mottled, not quite black and not quite brown and not quite charcoal either. It's a very neutral color that should match nearly anything.How Well the Glass Hides the Bulb: I paired these with Govee Edison smart bulbs so the lights could change colors and also do an adjustable warm white. I won't review the bulbs here, but it's relevant to this fixture that those bulbs have a large, ugly white base. The beveled glass does a pretty good job of obfuscating it, but the base can still be seen through the glass, and it's most visible at sunrise and sunset when the sun is on the horizon beaming directly into the fixture. This shouldn't be an issue with regular bulbs where the base is glass.Installation: These were very easy to install and came with everything I needed. A tip, especially if you're in a salt water area: use aluminum anti-seize on the screws. I had to get a blow torch to get the old lanterns off the post bases, and that turned installation into more of a project than I wanted. I do wish shorter screws were included — the ones provided stick out slightly and are a slightly different color than the aluminum on the fixture.Salt Air and Storms: I chose aluminum so the fixtures would last in the salty air here, and I wanted tempered glass that's also beveled so they'd have a better chance of surviving wind and flying debris during storms and hurricanes.Fair warning that I've only had these a few weeks and they've seen nothing but normal salt air so far, so I can't speak yet to how they hold up long term or in a real storm. I'll update if that changes.Finding this level of material quality in a neutral, easy to match style was a tall order, and these fixtures filled it for me. No regrets on doing all seven.

Nice product but the original and its replacement both arrived with broken glass. Manufacturer needs to improve their packaging.
