18 inch Ring Light with Tripod Stand and Phone Holder

Do not love, it’s a bit flimsy. Cheaply made , disappointed because I was expecting better from newer. All of my stuido lights are from newer but this one I don’t like.

Really effective light for a good price. Has a lot of options to change tone and amplitude of light, tripod is pretty decent quality, only thing is the phone holder is a little tricky to get right (has that flexible plastic thing that is hard to make level)

When it comes to a basic ring light, this Neewer model at $45.99 really delivers. Sure, there are more expensive models but this one gives you all you really need, plus a stand and an adjustable cell phone holder in the middle. It has lots of different special effects modes along with infinitely adjustable intensity and color temperature variation from 2900K - 7000K in 100K increments.

I got this mainly to use for portraits and some YouTube video. I have one of Neewer's smaller ring lights and it's worked out quite well but I wanted something a little larger and a little brighter. This mode fits the bill; it's AC powered which isn't ideal but I do use it in a fixed position so it's a tradeoff I can live with. It's easy to control and has app-control support as well, but I mostly just use the inline remote which is pretty simple to use. The light has a nice range of brightness, from dim to extremely bright and the color rendering is really excellent. I like how it came with a stand that's adjustable and it feels durable and like it'd handle some abuse and the ball head locks up solidly and really makes the light more versatile than a fixed angle. The little bluetooth remote seems like a bit of an afterthought but it worked with my iPhone. What is missing though and something Neewer is usually pretty good about, is a carrying and storage case. It's a really nice light and I would've really liked having a protective bag to store it in, so I'll have to look into an aftermarket bag. I think for the asking price it's a pretty solid value; the light is bright, exposes excellent colors, the stand is versatile and build quality is good. Aside from the lack of a storage bag, there isn't much I'd change and the overall quality is easily good enough to recommend to others.

Almost perfect ring light for vloggers, youtubers, etc.There are quite a few options out there for these so competition is pretty stiff. But here are my thoughts on this version from Neewer.My first reaction was, oh this is perfect. Then after using it, I would say, almost.Cons (I could only come up with a few)1. The lights are very bright. I know, that's a good thing right? However, they aren't quite diffused enough to keep from blinding you. The good news is they are dimmable which I will discuss in the pros section.2. For somebody like me who does not always shoot with my cell phone I wish there was a way to attach a different camera on a 1/4" plate. Since there is a soft shoe mount for the phone holder I think I could find something to do that, for a lightweight camera only, but I will have to research that some more.3. Final con is that it is not battery powered. This is kind of nitpicky and I know you can buy other models that are rechargeable. For those who are shooting themselves on location without a power outlet available you will have to bring some portable power with you.Pros1. The lights are very bright so it can be used for other photography scenarios. At full power they light up a room quite a bit.2. The lights are dimmable. If you are shooting on your phone sitting in the middle of the ring you are going to want to dim the lights a lot or you will be blinded. Thankfully they do dim with a remote on the power cord.3. Everything you need to record a video on your cell phone is included (except for microphone). There is a mount to put your phone right in the middle of the ring.4. Setup is fast. Extend the tripod, screw on the light ring, attach the phone holder, turn on your camera recording and you are off and running.5. It seems very stable. I believe it would hold up to a fairly good breeze if you were outside shooting.6. It comes with a swivel head so you can point the light ring and phone at any angle.All in all it is like I said, almost perfect. I really would give it 4.5 stars if I could. So should I round up? I'll leave it at 4 stars for now.

UPDATE 9/16/25 THE MORE I USE THIS, THE MORE I LOVE IT! This device makes set up to shoot quick and easy, which is great when I have a small amount of time to get things done.NEEWER You did it again! I love all of the NEEWER camera accessories I had already and I expected this one would not disappoint... I was right. I run 2 youtube channels. I shoot a lot of stuff on location but I do need to do some stuff in studio and correct lighting has been a challenge. I think about all the time and energy I wasted trying to shortcut the lighting with fluorescent lights and desk lamps not knowing I could have purchased one of these for less money and have it ready to use right out of the box. Where have you been?!. This was easy to set up in about 5 minutes without having to read the instructions. The level of adjustment for both temperature and brightness is infinite and the controller has a digital read out so light levels are repeatable. It also has an on-off remote control too. Being a guy, when I first took it out of the box I didn't realize that an entire stand comes with this too. This is a top quality stand with cam lock adjustments on 3 or 4 sections. The light comes with a ball mount with standard 1/4-20 thread so it will mesh up to any standard tripod (so I learned the hard way :-) the light has at least 2 female 1/4-20 female threads embedded in the outer ring 90 degrees opposed to maximize your ability to adjust camera angle. I really could not be more pleased and I'm sure this is going to be a game changer for my studio video work.

I am very pleased with this setup. The ring light is very bright at 100% and has fairly wide range of color temperatures, although I wish it had even warmer settings. The minimum is 2900k, which is cooler than many warm white bulbs in a home, so 2800k would have been a smidge better. If you were looking to enhance a candlelit scene, something warmer would be needed. That said, for most tasks, the ring light is more than adequate.The primary wire to the ring light is not removable. The issue with that is that it complicates screwing it onto the light stand or other 1/4" holder, as the wire is fairly long and has the controller at the end. It's a lot of wire to spin around the light stand. It would be quicker and easier to mount with a plug connector on the ring light.The ring light control is fairly straightforward, with one button switching between color temperature and brightness, and + and - buttons to raise or lower. When adjusting the color temperature, the temperature shown as 2 digits, with 30 meaning 3000k, for example. There are also mode settings which might be useful if you're shooting video. Options include lightning, explosions, welding, TV screen, Fireworks, and others. The icons on the control are tiny. Too small for my 65 year old eyes.The USB power source is surprisingly nice, being a PD model.The light stand is nice enough. It's fairly heavy, being made of steel, but that's fine with me for light stands. The ball head is very functional and useful. The height adjustments are all secured with simple screw clamps. Nothing fancy, but it works. The thumb wheel on the 1/4" screw mount makes it easy to secure the ring light firmly. The holder for a phone seems well-made and should fit the vast majority of phones. It attaches and removes easily.One little item that had missed my attention in the listing was the remote shutter button. It's a coin battery bluetooth button that you pair with your phone. Its bright orange should make it easy to mask and delete in many editors if you can't figure out a way to keep your hand out of the photo. On my Android phone, it defaults to working as a Volume Up button. Within the camera app, there is a setting for what actions the volume buttons perform. I just needed to setup mine so that Volume+ is the shutter release. One concern is that there is a sliding on/off button for power. It would be easy to forget to turn it off and find it dead the next time you need it. I would prefer that it turned itself off after several minutes. There is a small LED on the corner which lights when powered on, but it's not indicative of it being on or off. It shows as connected on my phone, even after that LED goes off.I might have liked a case for the stand, phone adapter, and shutter release and a removable wire to the ring light, but other than that, this checks a lot of boxes.
