EU Parent Basics Low Profile Emergency Light

I now have bought 3 of these. I live in Florida and originally had the non LED ones in my house as backup for power outages. As the batteries on the non-led have failed I upgraded to LED. During the last hurricane these worked perfectly and after 6 hrs with out power were still going strong. They light so well that we didn't need any additional lighting.

I expected better from Lithonia. Ordered 2 units. One arrived incompletely assembled. Not broken, it's like they lost interest in the project at about 90% completion. One of the lights on the unit wasn't attached. No signs of stress to the box. I couldn't figure out how to insert the nylon adjuste into the body of the light. Returned it. Now I need to reorder another light. The other light was fine. You need th drill out your own holes to fit your particular electrical box. They are marked on the plastic. Very light construction. Works as designed. Will buy again.

Needed a replacement to please the FD inspector. Small shop, 2 doors and a roll-up would make it difficult NOT to be able to escape, but rules is rules. And landlord will cover the $, so went shopping to get the CYA factor done for less.Note to viewers: Some of the similar units have been commented on as staying on and killing their battery due local power fails or power being shut down for maintenance or the like. Only recourse would be to unplug the battery to shut it down. Asked Lithonia if this unit recognises when power has been restored so the unit can return to 'standby', and they sez 'Yes'. Sold; worth a few extra $ for that feature, if only to moi'.So...you can go cheaper, but you may have to replace a dead battery at some point. And they cost nearly the $ of a new unit, so you makes your call...

These replaced our older units and cost less than replacement batteries for our old lights. They are nice and bright and cost less to charge so I'm quite happy.

The good:It is a sturdier product compared with the older incandescent type we have in the building. The light is brighter than with the incandescent units. The batteries should be easier to replace than the SLAs in the older unit when the time comes.The not so good:The first surprise I found when installing this emergency light, were the knock-outs for the mounting holes; they are only silhouettes molded on the surface of the plate, they need to be drilled out or risk breaking the plate if you smash them with a Philips head screwdriver.As with the incandescent model, aligning the edge connector to close the unit is always tricky and some tapping is almost always necessary to align the housing so the tabs will latch.While the NiCad batteries should last longer than the SLAs in the incandescent unit, the replacement cost is higher for the NiCads and, at the moment, there are fewer sources for those.In summary:Once you are past the installation and mounting, the unit looks well made and passes the 90 minute test without any trouble (make sure you let the batteries charge for 24 hours before attempting this test). If we need to replace any old units or install new ones, I would definitely buy this light again.

Good inexpensive Emergency Light that installs easily, the plastic backing plate can drilled to fit whatever electrical box you are using. The true test will be how battery's hold up over time, because the battery's are always in a new condition there should not be any of the memory issues usually found with NiCd battery's.

My country uses 220V mains. I purchased these knowing that they were for US mains dual voltage. I am lucky since 220V was OK to charge these. They can be used in Europe. Nicely built, serves us well.
