Both rechargable and runs on 3 AA batteries. Now I am ready for the next power outtage. Lost power for nearly 24 hours....lost alot of food. One is in my galley kitchen and one is in my bathroom...both are "windowless"

These lights are great, better than expected. When rechargeable batterie's are fully charged, the red power light turns green. This is not explained in the instructions. Good deal for $20.
