Love the look of these! The lights that were on the house we bought were begging us to send them back to 1999 and I really wanted something simple that didn't scream for attention. These are it!Installed easily, zero cuss words from hubs while I passed a couple tools and held the ladder (because it seems like I should). We put one on each garage in a jiffy. There is enough additional lights outside that I didn't want something super bright that carried far, so if you're looking for really bright security lighting these aren't for you.I immediately got inspired to get some colored bulbs for the holidays and we love the look.Can't speak to their longevity, but my fingers are crossed.

These two outdoor wall sconces complement one another; the manufacturer calls them up-and-down wall lights. In reality, they use indirect lighting and reflective lighting from the wall. They are placed on and shine LED lights on both the top and bottom of the sconces. No direct light is coming from the sconces. It’s all indirect light reflected off the wall, which makes it very soft and gentle white. That’s why it would be very effective in a setting where you’re putting a porch that's exposed to moisture, where people might be sitting around, talking, and eating, and where you want a soft light that illuminates the area quite well but isn't overbearing. These lights accomplish that purpose.Depending upon the color of the wall of your home outdoors, you could put them on the front of your home and create a lighting effect where the wall is lighted up, and then any person who approaches that wall or a window nearby would be in shadow illuminated by the wall that is now lighted by these up and down sconces. That makes it much easier for cruising police cars, or even neighbors driving by, to see someone who might be doing something inappropriate, like trying to break into your home. These lights could serve as an additional security device for your home.They are waterproof, hardwired, and come with GU10 lights already installed. These lights are supplied with only 10 LED lights but provide the equivalent of 80 W of incandescent light and last up to 50,000 hours.Installation is easy if you’ve already installed two outdoor waterproof junction boxes where you wish to install these lights. You can use several methods of setting up the lights. You could use a drilling-through-the-wall method or a conduit method from the outside to bring wiring up. For this review, I’m going to assume you already have taken the trouble to install US standard junction boxes that are waterproof in the front of your home. I’m going to think they are not currently electrified because they are waiting for the installation of these new lights.Just as a caution if you were installing them into an existing junction box you would want to make certain the power was cut off at the circuit breaker control panel, which is usually located in the basement and sometimes in the garage and then that after you turn off the circuit tested with a voltage tester or electrical testing device to make sure there’s no power flowing to the junction box you’re going to work on.Take the wires from the junction box you’re about to work on. You should have a black, white, and green wire. They are made of a 14-gauge single-strand cable. Make certain the last 1/2 cm of each of these bars has the insulation removed. You shouldn’t thread these three wires through the center hole in the install plate. Leave the install plate loose and dangling while you connect these wires to the three wire lock nuts supplied. Place the black wire from the House service and the 24-gauge black wire from the fixture adjacent to each other, with the points facing the same direction. Place a wire lock nut over the points and twist them counterclockwise together until they form a tight junction. May further secure this connection with electrical tape, including taping the wire lock nut to the wires. Do this with the white and green wires from the house, and possibly the bare wire from the fixture as well. Then push all the wires through the hole in the installed pipe back into the junction box. Then take the two.Take two number eight screws that are machine screws that have been supplied to connect the install plate tightly into the junction box, then take the fixture itself and bring it in and connect it to the wings that are on the install plate, facing away from the junction box. These lines up with the holes in the back of the fixture, brings the fixture into the installed pipe, and inserts the screws into those holes, tightening them fully.Do the same thing with the other junction box and the other light that you have.These lights do not come with a separate remote. You should have a switch inside your home to turn the lights on and off. You may wish to get a switch with a dimmer or a timer so you don’t have to keep them on all day, worrying about turning them on and off.Make sure that the junction boxes outside are now connected to the appropriate power source, and that the circuit breaker and the local switch are turned on. The controls that line is also turned on. I recommend obtaining a timer switch for this light so you can set it and forget it.
