This is a traditional banker's lamp with green glass shade that weighs 4.8 pounds and is unlikely to be knocked over.Its most significant feature is the rapid-charge USB port for smartphones that works quite well.There is a metal knob inside the glass shade opposite the light socket that can be tightened so the glass shade does not pivot.The pull-chain mechanism inside the light socket is hard to pull, and seemed crudely made, on the lamp as received.The color of the metal is plain dull gold-ish. A shinier brass look might be more popular.Since I wanted a metal shade, and had one from an old light-weight banker's lamp, I replaced the glass shade of this lamp with the metal one (see pictures).I also replaced the light socket for one with a better pull-chain mechanism.There is no assembly required for the lamp. You must have your own bulb and screw it in.The original socket had to be twisted so the hole where the pull chain exits was facing down and not up, making it possible to turn on the lamp.Now, does Amazon buy like-new banker's lamp glass shades from customers?
