The cord that this light hangs from looks like cheap speaker wire. I think it really cheapens the look. Maybe I'm just too familiar with speaker wire so that's what I see, but I think a black cord with the brass color would look really sharp. I don't think it would be too difficult to change it out with something else, but I haven't tried it.Other then the cord, it's a nice looking light fixture, however the glass teardrop is not as heavy as some of the other similar fixtures. There is less glass at the bottom of the teardrop, so the look isn't quite as dramatic. It's a bit closer to just being a glass globe rather than teardrop, but not entirely. It still has a bit of dramatic effect.

This is a truly good-looking, substantial and impressive pendant light. Most pendant lights fell cheaply made to my mind, even relatively expensive ones. This is the opposite--a light that feels like quality from the outset. The glass is heavy. Mine had a fairly obvious imperfection in it which my wife said some people would not like. Hand blown glass often has imperfections and thus, to my mind, the imperfection was not an issue. The fixture at the top of the pendant looks smooth and clean, magnifying the feeling of quality imparted by the glass. The base which is attached to the ceiling is not as classy as the lower portions of the light. It's just a cheap, basic matte black light base which, honestly, doesn't quite live up to the rest of the light. But it is just the base....Overall, I'm impressed. I think you will be too if you get this light.
